Does The Moon Get Lonely When Surrounded By The Brightest Stars?
It’s obvious that one of us is in the wrong place. I can feel my mind getting impatient and my heart growing angry as the days go by. I have to constantly shoot my heart with tranquilizer in hopes that it will return to its natural state- like how it feels when you’re here. Because even my morning coffee tastes different when you’re not sitting at the other end of the table.
My flesh composed but my inner soul enraged. Keeping my insides under control feels like taming a two year old. I hate having to explain to her why you’re not present.
I’ve had conversations with my hands, they seem to miss the edges of your arms. They complain they’ve been cold lately, that they long for the heat of your skin.
I find myself trying to keep busy during the day, following the dreams you convinced me to pursue. But then the sun sets, and my only passion seems to be missing you.
Perhaps I read too many romance novels, but I hope when the excitement withers and the moon is all you see, that you’re thinking of me; because I’ll be staring at the moon wondering where you are and what’s haunting you tonight.
All on her own, so bright and luminance, sure to make her presence seen and felt. She doesn’t need anyone to be the reason why she glows, she shines all on her own. I bet the moon gets lonely too. Like she’s surrounded by a crowd of the brightest stars but still can’t stop thinking about you, the brightest of all the stars. Isn’t that how love works? It makes the one you adore stand out from the rest.
The stars don’t seem as spectacular to her, she can’t find the same individuality in them. Stars keep shooting all around her, yet her face placed in the direction across the galaxy. She can feel the suns heat from miles away, to remind her that he’s still thinking of her. The rays that he exudes transmit secret love letters to her, the moons far away love, the sun.
I’m not sure if its time or distance that torments them the most. Miles measure the distance between them but what can measure their love? Their universal clock working in perfect rotation. They know when to rise, when to set. Their daily routine seems to work perfectly without the other, rarely are both seen on the same sky. But it’s you that sustains her existence.
I look at the moon at her fullest and see her resembling your circulating and infinite love. She hides secrets within her shadows as she turns her back on the earth to release her sorrows. But as long as you remain the most beautiful part of her, she will rise again.
I can picture the moon’s anticipation when she feels her love getting closer. When that once in a decade phenomena occurs, it’s not a crashing explosion as perhaps the heart may feel. They move confidently, trusting the universe to time their eclipse. And when they meet, for a moment the world is still. Quiet in the darkness, giving them their private time and letting their rays transfer a light only they can see and feel. Even the tides celebrate a love story only seen from afar. Waves clashing are like clapping hands embracing the return of the lonely moons love.
All fear is paused as I look at the endless midnight sky. I love that there are no borders in any direction that I look. It gives me hope that our love knows no boundaries, that our trust has never seen any limits. That as long as the universe is working in perfect orbit, our love will remain the same. Distance is only one rotation of the earth and one orbit of the sun. Everything about our love coincides with the universe’s totality.
You are my sun. When my light dims, you rise to let me rest. Even if I have to see you in the skies, I know I can still find your reflection in the deepest of oceans, where my vulnerability falls in love with you all over again.
